The Process |
|
From the beginning of the
process to the finished product, TL Custom maintains
ownership. This means that we don't subcontract any of
the steps needed to get you the countertops you have been
dreaming of. We will be your single point of contact,
and we will be able to maintain complete quality control.
You will notice a difference in
the way we work from the very first time you see us. A
salesperson will first show up and provide you with an
accurate bid. Shortly after that, a technician will
arrive to create a template.
Unlike other countertop vendors, TL Custom uses a "digital"
template. The salesperson will use an electronic
measuring device connected to a laptop, and create a digital
template that is much more accurate than a traditional
template. Once the template has been created, it is
simply emailed to our fabrication shop.
Next you will need to pick
your slab. TL Custom maintains a supply of at least 15
different types of granite slabs. You can come to our shop and pick
the exact granite slab (or other hard surface) you want, or
you can purchase a slab from another vender.
At this point we have everything we need to begin
fabricating your countertops.
|
 |
The entire fabrication process is digitally
controlled from a central location. Above, you see the
computer consoles where all the work is directed from.
First, we create a program based
on the digital template that was created at the beginning of
the process. This program is used to control the
machines that actually make your countertops. TL Custom Countertops is the only company
in the state of Utah with this kind of countertop
fabrication machinery.
|
 |
At this point, the slab that you picked out will be placed on the bed of
water you see above. A laser placed on the ceiling
will project an image of your countertops on the slab.
After your slab is lowered under the water, a computer
controlled saw will cut out your countertops. A
combination of diamond tipped saws (for straight cuts), and
a high pressure jet of water (for all cuts that are not
straight) make the cuts very precise.
|
 |
After your countertops have been
cut, they are placed on the CNC (Computer Numerically
Controlled) machine. This machine is a router, and will
put the kind of edge on your countertops that you have
specified (shown above.) It will also prepare seams, sink edges, and
all other types of edges. Below, you will see a close
up of the CNC doing its work, first with the splashguard down
and then with the splashguard up.

|
 |
As you can see from the photos
above, we use a lot of water when we are fabricating your
countertops. The water acts as a lubricant during the
fabrication process, but it also collects all the "rock
dust." In an effort to help keep the environment
clean, we clean the water and re-use it. We do this
with an Aqua-Pro Water Filter Press, shown below.
|
 |
Finally, a licensed,
professional installer from TL Custom will install your
countertops using all the latest tools and training to do
the job right.So what
does all this mean for you? It means higher quality in
less time. It means better fitting countertops, and
tighter seams. It means getting exactly what you
wanted, at a very competitive price. |
